Are you an experienced Fitter looking to take the next step in your career? Join a leading defence manufacturing business specialising in bridge systems and component fabrication. We’re seeking a skilled Fitter to support our client’s team in Stockport.
  
Key Responsibilities

As a Fitter, you’ll play a key role in fabricating and fitting aluminium components to engineering standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Use jigs and fixtures to fabricate bridge components
• Work from engineering drawings and work instructions
• Conduct visual and non-destructive inspections
• Operate hand tools and measuring equipment
• Follow health and safety procedures
• Complete SAP bookings and maintain accurate job records
• Undertake and maintain relevant welder qualification tests

  
Skills and Experience

• Time-served apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
• Experience in heavy manufacturing or fabrication
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, safety, and quality systems
• Ability to read technical drawings
• Excellent organisation, communication, and teamwork skills
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
