Are you an experienced HGV Mechanic/Fitter looking to take the next step in your career? Join a leading defence manufacturing business specialising in military vehicle assembly and maintenance. We’re seeking a dedicated HGV Mechanic/Fitter to join our client’s team in Stockport.
  
  
Key Responsibilities

As an HGV Mechanic/Fitter, you'll play a key role in assembling and maintaining military-grade vehicles:
  
  • Final assembly of armoured wheeled vehicles and sub-assemblies
  • Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings and standard operating procedures
  • Using diagnostic software for system installation and fault repair
  • Ordering required parts and updating documentation via SAP
  • Supporting other departments and sharing knowledge through on-the-job training
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in line with company 5S policy
  • Working flexibly with potential shift changes based on production demand

Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic
  • HGV Mechanic Certification – City & Guilds / NVQ
  • Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
  • Experience in vehicle assembly or mechanical maintenance
  • Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and diagnostic systems
  • Strong communication, fault-finding, and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with SAP and manufacturing processes desirable
  • Flexible and collaborative approach to cross-functional work
