Are you an experienced Machinist looking to take the next step in your career? Join a leading defence manufacturing business specialising in precision engineering and component machining. We’re seeking a dedicated Machinist to support our client’s team in Stockport.
  
  
Key Responsibilities

As a Machinist, you’ll be responsible for machining parts to specification using CNC machines and precision tools:
  
  • Operate CNC turning machines and retrieve/input programs as required
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure conformance
  • Conduct machine start-up inspections and report faults via maintenance systems
  • Use micrometres, verniers, and other precision tools for measurement
  • Select correct tools and materials for machining tasks
  • Input production details into SAP upon task completion
  • Support and train semi-skilled machinists when needed
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area and uphold health & safety policies
  
Skills and Experience
  • Minimum GCSE Grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • NVQ Level 2-3 in Engineering/Machining or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Experience operating CNC machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of SAP is desirable
  • Strong problem-solving, inspection, and precision measuring skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and consistency in quality
