The client design and manufacture a range of chassis for Caravan Holiday Homes, Leisure Lodges and Residential Park Homes. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
  
Overview:
  
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and development efforts within our engineering team. Your technical expertise and leadership skills will contribute to the successful execution of projects, ensuring innovation, quality, and efficiency in product development. In addition, you will be responsible for managing engineering change control processes to ensure seamless transitions and improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
  
Responsibilities:
  
  • Take ownership of the design process, leading and coordinating the technical team to achieve goals.
  • Conceptualise, design, and develop innovative solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct FEA, feasibility studies and risk assessments to guide design decisions and mitigate potential challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of design concepts into the final product.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand project specifications, requirements, and constraints, and incorporate feedback into the design process.
  • Oversee the prototyping and testing phases, ensuring that designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
  • Analyse test results and implement necessary design modifications to optimise product performance.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and design rationale.
  • Ensure that changes are reviewed, approved, and implemented in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to manage and control project budgets effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation without compromising design integrity.
Requirements:
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in engineering.
  • Relevant experience in working in a similar role.
  • An analytical mind-set with an ability to manage risks and challenges.
  • Experienced in driving improvement strategies, leading and facilitating others.
  • Ability to build supportive relationships with everyone across the business.
  • Excellent communication and management skills, with an ability to influence at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Able to multi-task, manage time effectively and keep calm under pressure.
  • Must possess strong communication, project management and leadership skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team.
